On Windows, WannaFocus supports desktop activity-based Proof (measured). The web app and the quiet tracker install as one, and since 0.3.0 the Mini Companion window shows the proof you're holding and the time in a screen corner without opening the full app — reduce and continue, stop with a reason, and one-click emergency exit.

Mac app

Beta · Apple Silicon · signed & notarized

The Mac app supports the Companion and Proof actions (shorten and continue · leave a reason and stop · emergency stop), and from 0.3.4 it also measures desktop activity for Proof.

From this version the Mac measures the foreground app too — the same way Windows does, reading only the app name. It never reads window titles, and needs no Accessibility or Screen Recording permission.

Install: open the DMG, drag Haenae into Applications, and launch it. (The bundle is still named Haenae.)

Android app

See your plan on your phone, start at the time you promised, and let the barrier hold an app. App detection and the barrier need usage access and draw-over-other-apps permission; the app asks for each one when it needs it.

Install: download the APK on the phone and allow “install unknown apps” for your browser or file manager when Android asks.

This APK is not a store build — it is signed with the repository's public debug key. Android needs some signature to install a file at all; it does not mean the build came from a verified publisher. Play Protect warning that the developer is unknown is accurate, and it is not a malware detection.

A later store build cannot upgrade over this one — the signatures differ, so it has to be uninstalled first.

Your record belongs to you

WannaFocus measures time without watching you. Here is exactly what it uses, what it never collects, and what other people can see.

What it uses

  • How long an app was in front, by app name
  • The sites you chose to be stopped at
  • The line you typed yourself

What it never collects

  • Screenshots
  • Keystrokes
  • Page contents or documents
  • Browsing history

What your group sees

  • Only what you chose to share, after you saw it
  • Nothing goes out on its own — private is the default

A record made by watching you produces excuses. A record you made yourself is something you can stand on. So WannaFocus collects less and leaves the choices with you: what gets measured, and what other people see.

What gets sent, and what never does

What it collects

  • Name of the active app (process name) — used only to build category summaries
  • Category-level time summaries (e.g. writing, 38m)
  • Start, drift, and return timestamps

What it never collects

  • Screen captures or screenshots
  • Keystrokes
  • Message or document contents
  • Visited URLs or page contents
  • Window titles — never uploaded, never even stored

Banking, adult, messaging, password, and health categories are excluded from recording by default. Raw activity stays on your computer; only the summaries above reach the server. Sharing only ever happens when you press the button yourself — private by default.

Security software showing a warning?

This early test build is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show an 'Unknown publisher' warning. That's about the missing signing certificate, not a problem with the build.

For the same reason, some antivirus tools may warn about or block a new unsigned program they haven't seen before, at download or install time. This is not unusual for early-stage apps. These warnings are usually a caution about an 'unknown file', not a malware detection — it simply means the file hasn't built a reputation yet.

To be clear: WannaFocus does not collect screenshots, keystrokes, page contents, or browsing history.

If SmartScreen appears

Click "More info" → "Run anyway" to proceed with the install.

If you hit an antivirus warning or block, please send us the detection name, which step was blocked (download · install · run), and a screenshot. It directly helps our false-positive reports and trust work.

Release status — honestly

Here is exactly what this build has and doesn't have. We won't claim things that don't exist.

Already here

  • SHA-256 checksums with every release since v0.3.0
  • Apple Developer ID signing and notarization on the Mac build since 0.3.4

Not yet

  • Windows code signing — not yet, which is why SmartScreen may warn
  • Windows: no signature means no publisher name in the install prompt

Connect in 4 steps

  1. 1Install the trackerRun the downloaded file — it installs in one click.
  2. 2Open Settings in the web appIn the planner, open Settings and press "Get a pairing code". It takes you to the connection screen.
  3. 3Enter the code in the trackerPaste the server address and the 22-character code into the tracker window. Codes are valid for 10 minutes.
  4. 4Confirm the connectionA green dot in the tray means you're connected. From then on it works quietly.

You can pause tracking or uninstall at any time from the tray menu.

Proofs are tracked only when the desktop app login account matches the tracker's paired account. The connected account is shown in the tray menu.

Having trouble?

  • If the download fails, try getting it directly from the release page. During internal testing, GitHub access is required.
  • Reinstalling does not erase your existing pairing or data.
  • If your pairing code expired (10 minutes), just generate a new one in Settings.
